Holy One,
We are coming out of our pandemic silence. We are beginning to notice the changes within our world, and within us. We weep for those who are not with us today. We weep for those who have died because of government inattention or disinterest. We weep for those who, due to no fault of their own, did not have the resources to fight the disease. And we weep for those who were the most vulnerable, and the least protected.Some of us are experiencing a time of great noise. Not just the noise of the cicadas, whirring and calling from our trees. We hear the noise of privilege, attempting to drown out the hurting, the lonely, the disadvantaged, and the impoverished. Raise our voices, Lord. Raise us up to speak new truth, new hope, and new messages of shared power and experience. Lift up our hearts to see you in all your glory. Open up the possibilities of love, freedom, and welcome in our churches, our homes, and our lives.Bring us out of the noise of our background and our experience, and lead us into a place of shared victory and song.May we not forget to listen for the voices we have ignored. And to have them speak in our place.Amen.
