Gracious God, my geraniums are wilting, their vibrant color bleeding away as they wilt in the heat. The crops and lawns and little birds long for the skies to open and your rain to water your earth.
God I, we, long for that too. To smell the ozone and hear the wind chimes sing as the wind picks up. To see the tree leaves turn upside down, the sky to darken with heavy and swollen clouds. To hear the first drops spatter on windows and pavements as we throw open the windows and doors. I, we, long to run outside to feel your cool, wet blessing on our faces once more.

Wash us clean, God. Refresh and restore your whole creation, we pray.
Amen.
