Holy One

I am like this wandering cat

Who chose to try the wet cement

and left a witness of its impulsiveness

I think of all the places

where I have brought hurt instead of healing

anger instead of peace.

Show me where I can clean up the mess

that’s left behind

(even when it isn’t “mine”!)

May I see where I can change

where I can learn

so I can better serve you

And when I see the results

of generational pain

teach me a new way

of loving your people

Because of your love’s sake

Amen
