Creative God, who hung the stars in the sky and set the times of light and darkness, thank you for shorter days in my hemisphere. Thank you for the specific, romantic, gloaming light of dusk, the way the streetlights buzz on and call us homeward. Thank you for Jupiter and Saturn, bright and burning in the sky.

Help us, in the midst of our labor, to pause. Help us to wait for your night to fall and then to look intently to the heavens, to ponder the mysteries of your stars and planets, shining persistently so far away. Help us to remember there is more than our current struggle, our current joy, our current circumstance.

Strengthen us as we begin a new week, giving us hearts to do your will and minds to conjure solutions. Give us gentle reminders to rest in the hugeness of your constellations, knowing we may find you even there.

Amen.
