At night, Welcoming God, when I can’t sleep, is that you?
Are you waking me up so I can pray for someone, with more attention than in the daytime?
Should I be examining a flaw I have rushed past during the day, as I answer email and go to meetings?
Is it time to set down some clawing unease,
some unforgiven person – or unforgiven part of myself?
Is it time to pray for the world, divided, on fire, flooded, still full of injustice?
Is a far away friend or loved one wakeful, and I’m joining them across the distance?
I’m listening, God, and thankful for your company in the night. Amen.

Having just come through 2 sleepless nights this prayer is a wonderful gift; a reminder to always turn to God. Thank you.

I’ve had insomnia since I was a child, and am finally fighting it with medication (something I long held off and that is not a perfect solution) Thank you so much for this prayer.
