Peace to your path, winding into the night;
peace toward your path, moving toward the light.

Peace to your fear as it tramples the adder;
peace to your fear when love makes it shatter.

Peace to your prayers, crying out for comfort;
peace to your prayers and the heart from which they pour.

Peace to your right and to those you embrace;
peace to your left, abandoned to God’s grace.

Peace to your life: may you know satisfaction.
Peace to your life in all its beautiful imperfection.

on Psalm 91

The Rev. Rachel G. Hackenberg‘s book with co-author Martha Spong, Denial Is My Spiritual Practice (and Other Failures of Faith), searches for faith through life’s trials. Rachel has also written Writing to God, a popular Lenten devotional, and other books.
