This Advent season is full of rehearsals, planning, writing, and logistics. We worry about whether to open up our buildings, or stay closed because of the global pandemic. We feel the pressure to make things “the way they used to be” when we have seen so many deaths… We see the empty seats in our sanctuaries and around our holiday tables…
We are grieving, and we are trying hard to forget that we are.
Help us leave behind the unused window dressings of our faith, the things which distract us, or distance us from one another. Help us remember and honor the beloved moments in our past, and be ever looking forwards to your leadership and guidance.
Remind us that you are still speaking… As we cling to the promise of Hope in a God who is always there, renew our trust in your compassion and grace.
May we leave behind all that entraps us, and wander towards you in this Advent season.
Blessed Be! Amen.
