Kitchen Maid at the dinner at Emmaus by Diego Velzquez (c) 1618

God of the lakeshore — feed us.

God of the doubters — reassure us.

God of the road home — reveal yourself to us.

God of the Spirit unleashed — advocate for us.

And God of the empty tomb — remind us

that since the beginning you have called the women, the broken, the disenfranchised

to be the proclaimers of your resurrection news

long before the disciples could organize themselves.

God of the table of unbounded grace — teach us

that the essence of the risen Christ is found

in those that humbly serve the world.

In the name of the risen and reigning Christ we pray, Amen.
