God,
In the midst of days
when pastors are preaching death
to queer people–
and u-hauls full of militia
threaten Pride celebrations.

I give thanks
for this one moment.
Because, as I captioned
on Intstagramed
Sometimes, things are perfect
And on a 70 degree day
In the midst of friends
with little corporate interference
and almost no capitalism
Friends and families gave out candy
and bracelets and beads,
and loved on each other for who they were
and proclaimed the Good News for all people:
Happy Pride: You Belong, You are Loved.
And God, you know how many people
My family and I recognized,
and it was like the Kingdom of heaven
I didn’t know how many beloved
I would see and belong to…
I didn’t know Jesus, but you sure did…
And the Holy Spirit blew in on bubbles
And banners and rainbows
And Whistled loudly
YAS QUEEN–You Are Fiercely and Beautifully Made!

Happy Pride! Amen! YAS Queen!
Hallelujah! YAS!
Amen
