A dry and weary place

If I have not love, Lord, I am a dry and weary place where there is no water for my soul.

If I have not love, Lord, I am a stormy sea with no safe harbor for the lost traveler.

If I have not love, Lord, I am an angry siren in a world that needs birdsong.

If I have not love, Lord, I am depleted and weak because I have not allowed your Spirit to fill me.

If I have not love, Lord, I have no voice for the hopeless and no comfort for the hurting.

If I have not love, Lord, I become brittle, dry, and inhospitable for creating and sustaining life.

If I have not love, Lord, I am hurting the helpless and worshipping my privilege and power.

If I have not love, Lord, I have left the God I worship behind in the dust of my self righteousness.

If I have not love, Lord, I am nothing without you. Help me. Amen.
