Lord, it is definitely fall around here
The colours are starting to change
And there is a hint of frost in the air
By the time we go to bed
Mornings are brisk
And we are starting to look at wooly sweaters
Which have been stored
For the past several months

I thank you, Lord,
That summer is drawing to its end
And we are getting relief
From the heat
And glaring sun
And the bugs which
Torment us even
On the hottest days

So many things are the same
This year
But there have also been
Many changes
And we know that
Our world
Will never go back
To the way it used to be

Children have returned
To school
Wearing masks
Washing hands
Social distancing
Learning about
A different kind of bubble
Which we hope will keep them safe

Churches have begun
Reopening
With protocols in place
Protocols which are preventing
Many people
From coming back
Because they don’t think
That they are enough

I pray, Holy One,
That you will be with all of us
At this time
As we navigate these
Unfamiliar waters
And I pray that we will turn to you
For comfort, for healing,
For peace, for love
Amen
