Holy One,

There are many ways to count time, but for us today is New Year’s Eve.  Tomorrow, preachers will proclaim to many different congregations in many different places that it s a day to begin anew.

As we turn to a new year, the beginning of Advent, we preachers read and think and study and prepare, so that we might guide those placed in our care into your transformative grace.

May we remember that transformation, grace, the proclamation of new life is not just for other people.  Those gifts are for us too.  Inspire us, so that our study becomes prayer. Help your preachers also, on this New Year’s Eve,  to begin anew.

Amen.
