star-of-bethlehem-yesI see the star, God, and I want to make a wish.
My wishes are good wishes
if only they would come true.
Wishes for peace
for justice.
Wishes that the sick would be healed,
the cold warmed,
the hungry fed.
Wishes for lives of light and laughter for all your precious children.
My wishes are good wishes, God.
But yours is not a star to be wished upon.
It is a star to be followed.
So here I go.
Again.
Please give me companions for the journey;
hospitable stops along the way;
nourishing food;
satisfying rest;
joy in the midst.
O God of epiphanies,
illuminate the path
and transform each wish
into a faithful step.
Amen.
