As the day begins
with all that lies ahead of me
you, O God, are present.
Help me also to be present.
In morning routines,
or morning chaos,
you, O God, are present.
Help me also to be present.
In difficult conversations,
in comforting words,
you, O God, are present.
Help me also to be present.
In laughter shared with a friend,
in sadness leaking down a face,
you, O God, are present.
Help me also to be present.
With too much to do,
or hours stretching out before me,
you, O God, are present.
Help me also to be present.
And as the day ends,
with carried over to-do lists,
regrets and triumphs,
confessions and thanksgivings:
you, O God, are present.
Help me also to be present.
Root me in your love.
Soak me in your grace.
Anchor me in your presence. Amen.
