Summer is good, but
The earth’s rest during winter is necessary and healing.
Summer is good, but
The dormant turtles wait in the mud and relax in their slowed heartbeats.
Summer is good, but
Months of increased night give us a chance to appreciate the gifts of darkness.
Summer is good, but
The winter holds hidden gestations of future promises and hope.
Summer is good, but
Still crisp air carries smells of memories, both healing and to be healed.
Summer is good, but
The Holy beckons us into divine rest and waiting, critical for our being.
Summer is good, but
The bare branches and hardened soil of winter have as much to teach as the verdancy and florescence of other months.
Summer is good, but
God is present in all seasons, merciful in all seasons, providential in all seasons.
Amen.
