Holy One,
You created a beautiful world for us. We make it a rough place to grow. We are inhospitable to one another. We seem to agree on very little. We fight over definitions and Calling. We hold up impossible standards in preaching and worship. FORGIVE US.
We ignore the weeds of sin that creep in and take over. We forget to reach for your nourishing Spirit to guide and support us. We long to be more than we are… we covet the larger church near us while we are struggling to make ends meet. CLEANSE US.
Forgive us for our selfish plans, our ungrateful hearts. Help us delight in the wild beauty right in front of our eyes. Sustain us and show us new possibilities, new places to grow. RENEW US.
And when we face the rudeness and criticism of others, may we gently put down our roots deep in your soil of nurturing love, and show Your love. TEACH US.
Blessed be –
Amen.
